Conductor Seeks Diversity
MU Orchestra conductor and artist-in-residence, Franz Ringeldopper, wants to explore new symphonic horizons -- but he's going to need some new talent in his emsemble. His recently-completed opus, "Anatomical Variations in B Minor" has a slight problem -- none of the existing student musicians can play it.
"I wrote each movement for a multi-limbed player. Two-armed instrumentalists are wonderful, but I couldn't keep from imagining what might be possible if a harpist had six arms or a cellist could draw three bows across the strings at once. I have heard it in my mind and won't rest until I hear it on my stage."
Interested students with time on their extra hands are encouraged to introduce themselves to Ringeldopper any weekday afternoon.
